Türkçede sahip olduğumuz şeyleri “var” ile söyleriz: “Benim bir arabam var.” İngilizcede bunun için have (sahip olmak) fiili kullanılır: I have a car.
I, you, we, they → have. He, she, it → has.
Türkçede ek ismin sonuna gelir (arabam, kedisi), İngilizcede ise kişi en başta söylenir: She has a cat. (Onun bir kedisi var.)
I have a car.
Benim bir arabam var.
She has a cat.
Onun bir kedisi var.
We have a big garden.
Bizim büyük bir bahçemiz var.
He / she / it ile have değil has: “She have a brother” yanlış, She has a brother doğru.
Özellikle İngiliz İngilizcesinde konuşurken have yerine sık sık have got denir. Anlam aynıdır: I have a car = I have got a car.
Kısaltmalar: I have got → I've got, she has got → she's got. Dikkat: buradaki she's = she has, she is değil!
Olumsuz: haven't got / hasn't got → I haven't got a car. (Arabam yok.) He hasn't got a computer. (Onun bilgisayarı yok.)
I've got a new phone.
Yeni bir telefonum var.
She's got two children.
Onun iki çocuğu var.
We haven't got a car.
Arabamız yok.
He / she / it ile has got: “She have got a dog” yanlış, She has got a dog doğru.
Soru yaparken have / has başa geçer: Have you got a pen? (Kalemin var mı?) Has she got a car? (Onun arabası var mı?)
Kısa cevaplarda got kullanılmaz: Yes, I have. / No, I haven't. · Yes, she has. / No, she hasn't.
Amerikan İngilizcesinde de böyle denir: Do you have a pen? ve I don't have a car. Bunları şimdilik sabit kalıp olarak öğren; do / does'u ileride ayrıntılı göreceksin.
Have you got a pen? — Yes, I have.
Kalemin var mı? — Evet, var.
Has he got a car? — No, he hasn't.
Onun arabası var mı? — Hayır, yok.
Do you have a pen?
Kalemin var mı?
“Yes, I have got.” denmez. Kısa cevap: Yes, I have.
Türkçede “var” iki farklı iş görür. Birine ait bir şey varsa have: “Benim bir kitabım var.” → I have a book. Bir yerde bir şey varsa there is: “Masada bir kitap var.” → There is a book on the table.
Aileyi ve görünüşü anlatırken de have / have got kullanırız: I've got two cousins. She has got blue eyes. (Onun mavi gözleri var.)
hair (saç) burada tekil sayılır: He has got short hair. (“hairs” değil.)
I have a book.
Benim bir kitabım var.
There is a book on the table.
Masada bir kitap var.
She has got blue eyes.
Onun mavi gözleri var.
Kendine sor: “Kimin?” sorusunun cevabı varsa have, “Nerede?” sorusunun cevabı varsa there is / there are.
Bu derste öğrendiğin her şeyi karışık olarak tekrar edeceksin.
I / you / we / they → have (got), he / she / it → has (got). Olumsuz: haven't got / hasn't got.
Soru: Have you got…? / Has she got…? Kısa cevap: Yes, I have. / No, she hasn't.
Ve unutma: birine ait bir şey varsa have, bir yerde bir şey varsa there is / there are.
He's got a big house.
Onun büyük bir evi var.
I haven't got a sister.
Kız kardeşim yok.
Have they got a car? — Yes, they have.
Onların arabası var mı? — Evet, var.
