Geçmişe iki farklı bakış

Past Continuous geçmişte belli bir anda süren eylemi anlatır: was / were + -ing. Uzun eylemin ortasına kısa bir olay girerse kısa olan Simple Past olur: I was watching TV when the phone rang. while genelde uzun eylemin önüne gelir: While I was cooking, …

Present Perfect (have / has + V3) zamanı belli olmayan deneyimler ve etkisi hâlâ süren olaylar içindir: I have seen that film. Sık kullanılan kelimeler: ever (hiç, soruda), never (hiç…-medi), just (az önce), already (zaten), yet (henüz, olumsuz ve soruda, cümle sonunda).

Belli bir geçmiş zaman (yesterday, last year, in 2020) varsa Present Perfect değil Simple Past kullanılır. gone gidip orada olan, been gidip dönen kişi içindir.

  • I was sleeping when you called.

    Sen aradığında uyuyordum.

  • Have you ever eaten sushi?

    Hiç suşi yedin mi?

  • She has just left.

    Az önce çıktı.

“yesterday” gördüğün an Present Perfect'i unut: I saw him yesterday (I have seen değil).

a mı, the mı, hiçbiri mi? Ne kadar?

İlk kez söz ettiğin tekil şey için a / an, bilinen ya da daha önce söz edilen şey için the: I have a cat. The cat is black. Tek olan şeyler (the sun) ve çalgılar (play the guitar) da the alır.

Genel olarak konuşurken çoğul ve sayılamayan isimlerde artikel kullanılmaz: Dogs are friendly. I like music. Bazı kalıplarda da artikel yoktur: go to school, by bus, have breakfast.

Miktar: sayılabilen çoğullarla many (How many books?), sayılamayanlarla much (How much water?). Olumlu cümlede ikisi için de doğal olan a lot of'tur: She drinks a lot of coffee.

  • I saw a dog. The dog was very big.

Bir köpek gördüm. Köpek çok büyüktü.

  • Cats love fish.

    Kediler balığı sever.

  • How much money have you got?

    Ne kadar paran var?

“The life is beautiful” Türk öğrencilerin klasik hatasıdır. Genel kavramda artikel yok: Life is beautiful.

Karşılaştır, ölç, nasıl olduğunu söyle

Kısa sıfatlar -er / the -est alır (tall → taller → the tallest, easy → easier), uzun sıfatlar more / the most (more beautiful, the most expensive). Düzensizler: good → better → the best, bad → worse → the worst. Karşılaştırmada than kullanılır.

Eşitlik için as + sıfat + as: She is as tall as me. Olumsuzu: not as… as. too gereğinden fazla demektir ve sıfattan önce gelir (too hot); enough yeterince demektir ve sıfattan sonra gelir (old enough).

Sıfat ismi, zarf fiili niteler. Zarf genelde -ly ile yapılır: quick → quickly, careful → carefully. Düzensiz: good → well, fast → fast, hard → hard.

  • This box is heavier than that one.

    Bu kutu şundan daha ağır.

  • It's too cold to swim.

    Yüzmek için fazla soğuk.

  • He speaks English very well.

    Çok iyi İngilizce konuşuyor.

“more fast”, “more good” yok! faster, better. “enough old” da yanlış: old enough.

Plan mı, tahmin mi, belki mi?

going to önceden yapılmış planlar ve şu an gördüğün kanıta dayanan tahminler içindir: I'm going to visit my aunt. Look at those clouds! It's going to rain.

will konuşurken verilen anlık kararlar, sözler, teklifler ve fikre dayalı tahminler içindir: The phone is ringing. I'll answer it. I think it will be sunny. will'den sonra to gelmez: will call (will to call değil).

Emin olmadığın olasılıklar için might ya da may + yalın fiil: It might rain. She may come. Olumsuzu: might not / may not. Bu fiiller çekimlenmez: she might (she mights değil).

  • We're going to buy a house next year.

    Seneye bir ev alacağız.

  • I'll carry your bag.

    Çantanı ben taşırım.

  • I might be late tonight.

    Bu akşam geç kalabilirim.

Türkçedeki “-ebilir” iki anlamlıdır: yetenek → can, olasılık → might / may. Yağmur yağabilir: It might rain.

Kurallar, sahiplik ve cümle bağlama

must / have to zorunluluk, should tavsiye bildirir: You should see a doctor. he/she/it ile has to. Dikkat: mustn't = yasak (yapmamalısın), don't have to = gerek yok (istersen yaparsın).

İyelik zamirleri isimsiz kullanılır: mine, yours, his, hers, ours, theirs. This bag is mine (my bag). Sahibini sormak için whose: Whose phone is this?

Bağlaçlar: and (ve), but (ama), or (ya da), because (çünkü, sebep), so (bu yüzden, sonuç): I was tired, so I went to bed. I went to bed because I was tired.

  • You mustn't park here.

    Buraya park etmemelisin (yasak).

  • Is this pen yours?

    Bu kalem senin mi?

  • It was late, so we took a taxi.

Geç olmuştu, bu yüzden taksiye bindik.

because sebebin, so sonucun önüne gelir. “Yağmur yağıyordu, bu yüzden…” → so; “…çünkü yağmur yağıyordu” → because.

Final: tüm A2 bir arada

Bu son derste A2'nin bütün konuları karışık geliyor: geçmiş zamanlar, artikeller ve miktar, karşılaştırma, zarflar, gelecek, modallar, iyelik zamirleri ve bağlaçlar.

Her soruda önce ipucunu ara: when / while → Past Continuous, ever / never / yet → Present Perfect, than → karşılaştırma, fiili niteleyen kelime → zarf, yasak mı gerek yok mu → mustn't / don't have to.

  • I was walking home when it started to rain.

    Yağmur başladığında eve yürüyordum.

  • She has never been to Japan.

    O hiç Japonya'ya gitmedi.

  • It was too cold, so we stayed at home.

Hava fazla soğuktu, bu yüzden evde kaldık.

Takıldığın soruda özet tablosuna dön: her konunun kuralı tek satırda orada.
