| Yapı | Kalıp | Örnek |
|---|---|---|
| Third conditional | If + had V3, would have V3 | If I had known, I would have come. |
| Olumsuz | hadn't V3 / wouldn't have V3 | If it hadn't rained, we wouldn't have stayed in. |
| could / might have | -ebilirdi / belki …-erdi | If you had asked, I could have helped. |
| 'd | 'd + V3 = had · 'd have = would | If I'd known, I'd have come. |
| Mixed (geçmiş → şimdi) | If + had V3, would + V1 | If I had studied medicine, I would be a doctor now. |
| Mixed (şimdi → geçmiş) | If + past simple, would have V3 | If I weren't afraid of flying, I would have gone. |
| Dikkat | if tarafına would gelmez | If I had known… (If I would have known ✗) |
Third conditional, geçmişte olmamış bir şeyi ve onun olmamış sonucunu hayal eder: If I had known, I would have come. (Bilseydim gelirdim — ama bilmiyordum, gelmedim.)
Kalıp: If + had + V3, would have + V3. if tarafında past perfect, sonuç tarafında would have + V3 vardır. Sıra değişebilir: I would have come if I had known.
Türkçede “bilseydim gelirdim” hem şimdi hem geçmiş için söylenebilir. İngilizcede zaman fark eder: şimdi için second conditional (If I knew, I would come), geçmiş için third conditional (If I had known, I would have come). Kafanda “bilmiş olsaydım, gelmiş olurdum” diye düşün.
Türklerin sık hatası: if tarafına da would koymak. “If I would have known” ✗ → If I had known ✓. would yalnızca sonuç tarafına gelir.
If I had known, I would have come.
Bilseydim gelirdim. (Bilmiyordum, gelmedim.)
If she had studied, she would have passed.
Çalışsaydı geçerdi. (Çalışmadı, geçemedi.)
We would have caught the train if we had left earlier.
Daha erken çıksaydık treni yakalardık.
Third conditional hep geçmişteki gerçeğin tersini anlatır: “If she had studied” = aslında çalışmadı.
Olumsuz: If + hadn't + V3 (…-meseydi), wouldn't have + V3 (…-mezdi). If I hadn't missed the bus, I wouldn't have been late. (Otobüsü kaçırmasaydım geç kalmazdım.)
Soru: soru kelimesi + would + özne + have + V3: What would you have done if you had lost your passport? (Pasaportunu kaybetseydin ne yapardın?)
Kısaltma 'd iki anlama gelebilir: if tarafında had, sonuç tarafında would. If I'd known, I'd have come. = If I had known, I would have come.
Türklerin sık hatası: geçmiş hayali past simple ile kurmak. “If I didn't lose my phone, I would have called” ✗ → If I hadn't lost my phone ✓.
If I hadn't lost my phone, I would have called you.
Telefonumu kaybetmeseydim seni arardım.
What would you have done?
Ne yapardın?
If I'd known, I'd have come.
Bilseydim gelirdim.
'd'den sonra V3 varsa had, “have” varsa would: I'd known = I had known · I'd have known = I would have known.
Sonuç tarafında would have yerine could have ya da might have da kullanılabilir. If you had asked, I could have helped. (Sorsaydın yardım edebilirdim.)
might have + V3 = belki …-erdi: If we had left earlier, we might have caught the train. (Daha erken çıksaydık belki treni yakalardık — emin değilim.)
Fark: would have = kesin sonuç, could have = imkân / yetenek (-ebilirdi), might have = olasılık (belki).
Türkçedeki -ebilirdim geçmiş hayalde could have + V3 olur. “If you had told me, I could help you” ✗ → I could have helped you ✓.
If you had asked, I could have helped.
Sorsaydın yardım edebilirdim.
If we had left earlier, we might have caught the train.
Daha erken çıksaydık belki treni yakalardık.
If he had trained harder, he could have won.
Daha sıkı antrenman yapsaydı kazanabilirdi.
Ne kadar eminsin? would have (kesin) → could have (mümkündü) → might have (belki).
Bazen geçmişteki bir olay bugünü etkiler. O zaman iki yapı karışır (mixed conditional): If I had studied medicine, I would be a doctor now. (Tıp okusaydım şimdi doktor olurdum.)
Kalıp 1 — geçmiş neden → şimdiki sonuç: If + had + V3, would + yalın fiil. If you hadn't eaten all that cake, you wouldn't feel sick now.
Kalıp 2 — şimdiki/genel durum → geçmiş sonuç: If + past simple, would have + V3. If I weren't afraid of flying, I would have flown to Paris last week. (Uçmaktan korkmasaydım geçen hafta Paris'e uçardım — ama hâlâ korkuyorum.)
İpucu kelimelere bak: now, today, still → sonuç bugün (would + V1). yesterday, last week → olay geçmişte (had V3 ya da would have V3).
If I had taken that job, I would live in London now.
O işi kabul etseydim şimdi Londra'da yaşardım.
If you had brought the map, we wouldn't be lost now.
Haritayı getirseydin şimdi kaybolmuş olmazdık.
If she weren't so shy, she would have spoken at the meeting.
Bu kadar utangaç olmasaydı toplantıda konuşurdu.
Her yarıyı ayrı düşün: if tarafı ne zaman? Sonuç ne zaman? Zamanı her yarı için ayrı seç.
First: gerçek bir olasılık (gelecek). If it rains, I will stay at home. (Yağmur yağarsa evde kalırım.)
Second: şimdi ya da gelecek için hayal. If I had a car, I would drive. (Arabam olsa sürerdim.) Tavsiye: If I were you, I would … (Yerinde olsam…)
Third: geçmiş için hayal. If I had had a car, I would have driven. (Arabam olsaydı sürerdim.) had had doğrudur: have fiilinin past perfect halidir, Türklerin kafasını karıştırsa da yanlış değildir.
Mixed: geçmiş ve şimdi karışır. If I had saved money, I would be rich now.
If it rains, we will stay at home.
Yağmur yağarsa evde kalırız.
If I were you, I'd call her.
Yerinde olsam onu arardım.
If I had had more money, I would have bought it.
Third: If + had V3, would / could / might have V3. Geçmişteki gerçeğin tersi. if tarafına would gelmez.
Mixed: geçmiş neden → şimdiki sonuç (had V3 … would V1) ya da şimdiki durum → geçmiş sonuç (past simple … would have V3).
If I'd known about the strike, I wouldn't have gone.
Grevi bilseydim gitmezdim.
If she had taken the medicine, she would feel better now.
İlacı alsaydı şimdi daha iyi hissederdi.
If you had asked, I could have lent you the money.
Sorsaydın sana parayı ödünç verebilirdim.
